After hearing the forecast I was expecting a rainy/snowy day. But it
is mostly sunny and in the low 40s, which is good.

Chris and I decided to go to Ryders for breakfast but were
disappointed to find that they were closed for breakfast. So we headed
back up the holler and made our own breakfast. We had sausage gravy
and biscuits. Very tasty and filling!

We decided to make Crockpot Mexican stew for supper. However, after
placing the ingredients in the Crockpot we got a call from David
inviting us to supper. So, we will be having our stew tomorrow which
is just fine.
Chris chopped some wood for the fire so we will be toasty tonight.
We decided a trip into town was needed for a few items. We though
first of going to Elkins but Chris then decided on Marlinton. We got
most of what we needed there and ate at the Riverplace restaurant.
After returning to the cabin we relaxed and then went to supper at
David and Charlene’s. It was very good.
When we were leaving their cabin we turned the light on outside and
were surprised to see that it was snowing pretty hard!
I ended up making substantial progress on my 4th square for my “lap robe”.

We woke up to a snowy morning. Chris is making a hearty breakfast.
I’m a little disappointed in the stew I made yesterday. It is VERY
spicy/hot. I think I’m going to drain off the liquid and use it as a
salsa.
We ended up going to Elkins today for a few things. Cheat Mountain was
bad due to snow and Chris had to help someone that was hung up.
Chris chopped more wood.
We played WV Monopoly and Chris beat my butt!
We had a late lunch from Subway and I made French bread pizza for a
late supper.
I didn’t get much knitting done today.

I have been ultra-lazy today! I’ve gotten a lot of reading, knitting,
and napping done.
Chris and I took a short walk. It was short because
it was about 35 degrees outside.
Hopefully tomorrow it will warm up so we can spend more time outside.
We’re thinking of going to Ryders for supper.
Ryders was good. I tried to eat semi-healthy there. Had the grilled
chicken breast, green beans, and a salad.
Chris beat me yet again at WV Monopoly.
After that we started worrying about the cats due to our
unreliable furnace.
So, we packed up some dirty clothes to wash and headed home. The cats
were warm and happy because the furnace did not go off.
At home I got the laundry done and went to bed.

We woke up super early and headed back to the cabin.
On the way, we stopped at Mama’s Kitchen and had biscuits and gravy.
Unfortunately when we got to the cabin we realized the clean clothes
were accidentally placed in the garbage to be taken out. So, later
today Chris called his boss and he’s going to toss them on our porch.
I knitted some more and helped Chris some with the fire pit.
Made supper: Pasta with turkey sausage, cheese, and tomatoes. Pretty
spicy but good.
Chris was again victorious for the third time in WV Monopoly but I put
up a good fight. The game lasted for 2 hours.

I woke up before Chris around 7: 45, showered, and started breakfast.
I made omelets and toast. By 9:00 Chris was up and we ate.
I finished by book, Two for the Dough. It was so good. Pretty soon
I’ll start Three to Get Deadly.
We decided to go down to the mall and find some hooks to use for coffee mugs.
At the store we asked if they had candles and a lady there said we
could find them at the candle and card shop. We had no idea that this
was here. I was excited! We bought several stick candles and also an
odor-eliminating candle called “White Trash” for the cabin. It’s funny
because I thought that one smelled the best out of all of them.
After that we headed up to Cass and Snowshoe. Everything was pretty
much closed down but we ate at a little gift shop/restaurant. Chris
bought some more candles there.
When we got back we decided to get out the vertical gear. I realize
that it takes a lot of upper body strength to climb the rope!
Chris is now making mug hooks.
We went to Ryders for supper. It was great but I am overstuffed. We
had the ribeye special.
We are going trick or treating tonight. I will be “Thelma Sue Purvis”
and Chris will be “Melvis Purvis”.
After collecting our Reese Cups, we headed back to play Star Wars
Monopoly by candlelight.
Chris won for the 4th time.
Then we decided to play Checkers and Chris won yet again, he didn’t
even lose any of his checkers. I think I’m destined to lose to him in
all games!
We did some funny Halloween photos then Chris said “what if a real
ghost was here?” and freaked me out a little.

November is here! It looks like it is going to be warmer today. Not
sure yet what is in store today. We made biscuits and gravy again for
breakfast. Very good.
We’ve decided to head back today and catch up on things at the house. It’s back to work on Monday, so it will be nice to have Sunday at home. I feel relaxed and recharged after this vacation.
